What Did We Know?

May 15th, 2009

Fresno, CA-What did the city of Fresno know that left the city of Troy, Michigan in the dark?  Fresno knew to contract with Alvis Projects to develop one of the most energy-efficient homes ever.  The city of Troy developed a solar home for nearly one-million dollars with the best-of-green intentions.

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh picked up on the project and made it out to be a costly green-gaffe.

So far the Troy home is dark, even in the light of day.  Frozen pipes over the winter created thousands of dollars in damage. The home sits empty. Not so in Fresno.

The energy-efficient, Alvis home cost under $300,000 and is occupied by a family saving hundreds every month on their energy bill.  Click on the video below to see how they did it.
