Alviston—It has been a year of “Green Clarity and Common Sense.” Alviston.com, the virtual city, is celebrating. By the numbers, Alviston.com has attracted 21,500 unique visitors. In the computer-user world, that is a significant number.
That means that over 20,000 people have found their way to this fair city of green and keep coming back. Earth Day 2009 is this week and Alviston representatives will be at various Earth Day events spreading the word.
The word is…green. Moreover, green seems here to stay. The green scene has always been about common sense for the founders of Alviston.com. Extremists come and go but Alviston keeps it clean and clear.
There is such a thing as a good idea for the earth and for your bank account. Alviston.com strives to find that combination on a daily basis; thus, the “green clarity and common sense.”
Whether you think global warming is a government plot or the worst crisis ever looming, Alviston.com is here for you. The founders don’t seek to change your mind; just help you discover an incredible number of earth smart, recharged, new fangled, “why didn’t I think of that” kind of ideas out there to save you time, money, and the planet.
Central CA-Spring is here and summer is coming. Temperatures are going to climb. Alviston.com is dedicated to “green clarity and common sense.” When it comes to cooling off you might not know few things.
The U.S. Department of Energy is jumping in with some “cool” suggestions, new information on old procedures. Green News will bring on the tips as the temperatures start to rise.
Here is common sense information on ceiling fans:
Use Fans and Ventilation Strategies to Cool Your Home
If you use air conditioning, a ceiling fan will allow you to raise the thermostat setting about 4°F with no reduction in comfort.
Turn off ceiling fans when you leave the room. Remember that fans cool people, not rooms, by creating a wind chill effect.
When you shower or take a bath, use the bathroom fan to remove the heat and humidity from your home. Your laundry room might also benefit from spot ventilation. Make sure bathroom and kitchen fans are vented to the outside (not just to the attic).
